Artist Announcement

Dakin Auret

Dakin Auret is a musically driven DJ/Producer with a versatile style and a flare for the underground. His unique blend of  bouncing bass lines, eerie synths and sultry vocals are the product of a teenage introduction to house music in Durban, South Africa, and then a critical move to Los Angeles in 2001. His fresh production and DJ sets have helped solidify his place in the emerging international Deep House scene.

After seven years in Los Angeles, Dakin had soaked up all that the 'City of Angles' had to offer, and moved back to his home town of Durban in 2007. Ambitious as ever, he soon became resident at two of South Africa's mega clubs, 'Origin' & 'Sasha'.

All the while Dakin was hard at work producing and preparing for the next stage in his music career; 2010 saw Dakin's first release on 'Seta Music' (Rom) which quickly became their #1 seller. At the same time he paired up with fellow Durbanite Coco Loco to throw uniquely intimate events at some of Kwa-Zulu Natal's untouched and largely unknown venues.

By then Dakin's production was on roll, and soon followed multiple releases on international labels like 'Sleazy Deep' (UK), 'Louder Music (Mex), 'Oh So Coy' (Swed), 'Plus Plus' (USA), 'SinQ' (UK), 'Recovery Tech' (Germ), 'Voltaire Music' (Germ) 'Denote' (Fran), 'Triplefire Music' (SA) & 'Gooseneck Records' (USA).

On the remix side Dakin has worked with Dirty Culture (Soulman Music), Trav & Volta (Kumasi), Floyd Lavine (Lower East), Yeray Herrera (City Life), Saccao (Mexa) & Alberto Ortega (Creme Couture). He is busy in the studio now working on a remix for Mikalogic on 'Techsoul Records' and also for Andre Salmon on 'Deadfunk Music'.

The most recent release by Dakin is his  'Crazy Over You' EP, on the Romanian label 'Let It Play'.  The release made it to #26 on the Beatport Nu Disco / Indie Dance chart and one of the tracks, 'No Promises' was charted by Atapy.

Now in Cape Town, Dakin has quickly entered the Deep House / Techno scene, playing at such renown events as Kinky Disco, NomadiQ's Rooftop of Dreams, Rocking the Daisies & Make Believe Train Parties.
